FAQs
Does this filter out chemical toxins?
No, it doesn’t. Do not use this with water you suspect to be contaminated with chemicals, toxins, or human waste.
Can it filter sea water?
No. It cannot filter out salt particles.
Can it filter urine?
To a degree. It will still taste pretty bad and it can’t filter out the salt or the urea.
How do you know when it has reached the 1000 liter limit?
It will not allow any more water to pass through once the filter is exhausted.
What kinds of water will it work well with?
It works best with ground water, rain water, streams and the like. It doesn’t work with sewage water, sea water or water contaminated with chemicals.
Does it filter out beneficial chemicals like fluoride?
No, it does not. Fluoride will pass through fine.
Is the LifeStraw dishwasher safe and BPA free?
It is BPA free but not dishwasher safe as the heat of the dishwasher could possibly damage the filter. To clean, simply rinse with water, and leave to dry.
